Virtual Private Network / VPN

The International University of Greece Kavala Campus data network access service via a Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows remote users who are connected to the Internet, but outside the institution's network, to securely connect to it. The benefit of this connection is that remote users, regardless of how they connect to the Internet, enjoy the same services as they would if they connected directly to the University network:

Access to data and services that are only available through the University network, such as Central Library subscriptions and the use of the institution's e-mail server.

Secure access to the University's services even in cases where the security of the access network is not guaranteed.

Once the VPN is activated, all network traffic of the user's computer is routed encrypted to the University network where it is decrypted and routed to its final destination. The origin of the data appears to third parties to come from the University's own network.

The connection to the VPN server of the Kavala Campus of the International University of Greece can be made using the openVPN software
